Club Update - Surf Sports Communications

13 Nov 2023 by Fiona Ronge

Dear Club Members,

Surf Sports is a pivotal part of Surf Life Saving.

First introduced by the movement as a tool to develop and retain surf lifesavers, these outcomes remain an integral part of Surf Sports today with members participating in a variety of Surf Sport activities that promote a healthy lifestyle, camaraderie and sportsmanship – ensuring members are fit and experienced to patrol our beach.

Surf Sports consists of many individual and team Surf Life Saving events or disciplines such as surf swimming, board paddling, surf ski paddling, Iron-person, beach flags, beach sprints, surf boat rowing and IRB racing. It also includes traditional events such as the March Past and Rescue & Resuscitation and now including Champion Lifesaver, First Aid. Surf Life Saving events cater for all ages from under 8 years through to 70+ years.

Youth (U14s/U15s/U17s/U19s), Opens and Masters competitors need to be a current SRC/Bronze proficient member and accrue the required number of patrolling hours each season to be involved in Surf Sports competition.

Surf Sports provides an opportunity for participants to further develop whether it be as an athlete, lifesaver, official or coach, while having a whole lot of fun along the way.

The DYSLSC Surf Sports Team have implemented some new communication channels to deliver the latest updates/events/activities for our club members aged U14s/U15s through to Masters.

Note: U14s Nippers, please continue on current communication platform.

The DYSLSC Surf Sports Team will post Information around Surf Sports via:
