Welcome to Dee Why Nippers, At Dee Why we promote an inclusive and caring approach to surf education. Our aim is to promote our Nippers through a program that will not only ensure that they are beach aware, but also to achieve the goal of becoming a volunteer surf Lifesaver with an important role within their community. We have found that the more parents are involved in the Nipper experience the more the child will get out of their time as a Nipper. Please ask your Age Manager how you can get involved! We encourage a social environment and also provide the opportunity for those who would like to take their skills into the competitive arena. Our main source of communication is Team App which can be used to: - have all relevant family members receive required information; - determine yourself what information you receive; - select whether to receive push notifications or rely on checking the app yourself. Team App puts Nipper Families in control of the Nipper information they receive. A family tradition since 1956, Bennett Surfboards has been in the surfboard business longer than any other Australian manufacturer. Currently celebrating our 60th Anniversary.
Surf Life Saving introduced Racing Malibu’s to Australian Titles in paddle board races and iron man competitions in 1962 and with longboards, was incorporated into Bennett’s surfboard production.
Bennett’s has always maintained its strong roots in the Surf Life Saving environment.
And for the last 40 years, has supplied thousands of paddle board and rescue boards to overseas and local clubs.
The Bennett name is highly valued amongst the Surf Life Saving fraternity and many Australian and World Titles have been won on Bennett boards.

DYRSL History
On 26 January 1937 13 men gathered together to form a Dee Why / Collaroy Sub-Branch of the RSL. These actions would in turn become the beginning of an integral part of Dee Why’s history.
In July that same year the RSL State Branch granted permission for an affiliation and the 13 men found an appropriate location on Pittwater Road named Luana Hall. Luana had originally been built as an MGM Cinema, it was leased by the Sub-Branch and by 6 October 1937 the first meeting was held there.
The Sub-Branch made great use of the hall, holding dances, card parties and raising funds for the war effort to provide improved services and facilities. Collaroy was granted their own charter in 1945. In June 1948 Luana was purchased for a total of £6009!
The club has continued to grow and today Dee Why RSL is proud to provide services to more than 40,000 members. The importance of the clubs heritage is remembered daily through the recital of The Ode which plays every evening at 6.00pm.
